Project news

The Clique Research Cluster is focussed on the analysis and visualisation of large graphs and networks, specifically social networks and biological networks. The cluster is made up of researchers from DERI - Unit for Information Mining and Retrieval (UIMR) and UCD and the companies IBM, Idiro Technologies and Norkom. The Clique Research Cluster will hold their first research meeting at DERI on Friday April 3rd.

Next Tutorial at DERI on thursday April 2nd :
Social Semantic Web : Introduction - Alexandre Passant, John Breslin

This tutorial will explain how Semantic Web technologies can be applied to Social Media websites in order to solve their common issues. They will detail both languages (such as FOAF and SIOC) and tools (Semantic blogging, semantic wikis ...) of the Social Semantic Web.

The next Drupal Ireland event is taking place on Saturday 4th & Sunday 5th April in DERI building at NUI, Galway and will run from 10am to 5pm both days. Registration is free.

Life sciences on the Semantic Web: the Neurocommons and beyond
Alan Ruttenberg, Jonathan A. Rees, Matthias Samwald and M. Scott Marshall.

This paper describes how current Semantic Web technologies can be used for data integration in the life sciences and medicine, enabling the faster identification of new therapies. A mirror of the "Neurocommons Knowledge Base" described in the paper is hosted at DERI. http://hcls.deri.org

Project news

For the SFI Lion II project, DERI's DI2 (Data Intensive Infrastructures Unit) is on its way toward implementing WebStar, DERI's Web Science Laboratory. This cluster will consist in 36 dual processor machines. More about DI2 

Software news

DERI Pipes reaches version 0.7. DERI Pipes is a service that allows to mix different data sources together using a user-friendly online interface. This version allows to build complex mash-ups as in the following example . More details about DERI Pipes

A SIOC exporter for MediaWiki was recently made available online . It provides a way to create SIOC data from existing wiki, enabling a better interoperability between them and integration with other SIOC-enabled social software. More details about SIOC.

From the 17th to the 19th of March, SAP Consulting Office in Berlin will be hosting the final SUPER workshop, before the final review of the project. The main purpose of the EU-funded SUPER project, in which DERI is involved, is to bring back business process management to business professionals. More details
